Problem / Challenge.
Living with complex digestive disorders is a highly prevalent and underserved condition affecting millions of people around the world. Due to the incorrect tracking and follow-up of the patient’s symptoms, there is a great risk of having major health complications in the first 90 days after undergoing ostomy surgery. As one of the very few companies working on medical innovations in healthcare for these types of patients, our client works toward creating a system that combines smart wearables and mobile technologies to provide users with real-time information about their health, helping them to regain control of their lives.
Our role & how we embraced it.
We tackled this challenge with the Design Thinking process using a wide variety of methods and activities including user research, analysis of the current system, and pain points. Then, we started ideating with stakeholders on possible solutions, taking a collaborative approach to content categorization and Information Architecture, and focusing on designing the best and most accessible experience for users.
The outcome.
We designed a native mobile application for iOS and Android that provides a clear and easy way for ostomy patients to be aware of their general health while living with this condition through the connected monitoring system. The user interface supports quick access to the educational material assigned to patients based on the relevance of their current symptoms and provides visualizations of the data gathered by the wearable devices.
